A new world record has been made, as 23 000 dogs are entered to the three international dog shows on December 13th-15th which together form the Koira2013-event.  On this particular weekend in December, Messukeskus in Helsinki is the place to be for all dog lovers. On Friday December 13th 6 600 dogs will be seen at the Helsinki Winner-show, on Saturday December 14th the Nordic Winner-show gathers 8 600 dogs and on Sunday 15th 7 800 dogs are going to compete at the Voittaja Winner-show. On each day it is possible to see dogs of over 300 different breeds.

The Koira2013-event will fill the whole Messukeskus with happy barking, tail wagging and exciting competitions. A part of the program has been designed with youth in mind and Friday’s emphasis will be on the range of dog-related professions presented by different learning institutions. An exciting competition between institutes offering dog-related education will take place on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday it is time for the popular children’s toy dog competition. The competition will be judged by dancer Marko Keränen on Saturday and speaker Niina Backman on Sunday.

On Sunday, the youth may take part in a fun agility tunnel competition. It is obligatory to enter this competition in advance: the entry will open on Monday, November 11th. The competition will be judged by Janne Karstunen, who has competed successfully on international level with his own dogs and is familiar from the Koiramestari tv-show. Children and dog-competition will take place in the same ring, judged by the reporter Katja Ståhl. Popular face painting will be provided by the Theatre of Sipoo at the Toy dog competition ring on Saturday and Sunday at 10-14.00 o’clock.
The precise event schedules and presentations of various different dog sports, e.g. dobo, heelwork to music and freestyle have been published on the event’s website.

The Finnish Kennel Club organizes the event together with about 1000 volunteering dog enthusiasts. About 50 000 visitors are expected to the Koira2013-event.
